My name is Kate and I’ve been a writer for the past eight years … well I like to say my whole life because this is something I have always wanted to do. I wasn’t a girl who wanted to be a vet, or Madonna, or a lawyer … I wanted to write … okay MAYBE I wanted to be Cinderella for a hot second when I was four.
I’m born and raised in New Jersey … now don’t start envisioning fist pumping, hair poofs and fake tans, I like to call my town a suburb of Philadelphia, which it is as I live closer to Philly than most of the “actual” burbs. I went to college in Philadelphia and pretty much got every big writing/fashion break in this town. Carrie Bradshaw to New York fictionally is what I am to Philadelphia … in reality.
I’ve been doing the freelance fashion writing thing for the past six years, I’ve been the editorial intern, I’ve worked fashion shows, I’ve freelanced some more, got that disgustingly expensive degree in writing, graduated in a “sh*t storm” in 2009 as Chris Matthews, our class speaker, so bluntly told us referring to the recession … been working in advertising for the past two years … while freelancing, and here I am. Copy editor, AP Style fanatic by day … and nurturing this blog by night.
